A confirmed fragment of the Moon, recovered from the Saguia el Hamra region near Laâyoune, Western Sahara, in January 2022. Two principal stones were recovered — 3,680 g and 1,468 g — bringing the meteorite's total known weight to 5.15 kg, officially approved by the Meteoritical Society in March 2022.

Classified as a lunar feldspathic breccia, Laâyoune 002 is built from crushed and re-fused fragments of the Moon's ancient highlands crust — the same anorthosite-rich terrain sampled by Apollo 15's famous "Genesis Rock." The stones show a low shock stage and low weathering state, with a gray exterior scattered with distinctive whitish feldspar clasts and no fusion crust.

Lunar meteorites remain among the rarest materials a collector can own — under 700 are known from the entire Moon — and Laâyoune 002's larger total known weight makes it one of the more attainable entry points into lunar collecting without sacrificing authenticity or story.
