Sericho - Pallasite, Main Group Individual Specimen

The Sericho meteorite was recovered from a remote area of Isiolo County, Kenya, after two brothers searching for stray camels in 2016 came across a series of unusually dense stones scattered across a strewn field later measured at over 45 km long, west of Habaswein and south of the village of Sericho. Though only formally recognized and classified in 2016–2017, local camel-herders had known of the stones for generations, with recovered masses ranging from single grams to over 100 kg and total recovered material now exceeding 2,800 kg — making Sericho one of the largest pallasite falls known. As a main-group pallasite, it belongs to the rarest broad class of meteorite, composed of a nickel-iron matrix studded with olivine crystals formed at the core-mantle boundary of a long-since-shattered differentiated parent body.

This piece is offered as a small natural individual rather than a cut or polished slice, preserving its as-found exterior character rather than the classic olivine "stained-glass window" appearance pallasites show when sliced and etched. It's a solid, affordable entry point into pallasite collecting and a good representative piece of one of the more significant meteorite recoveries of the past decade.
