This uraninite originates from the Ace Deposit in the Beaverlodge Lake area, part of the renowned Beaverlodge uranium district in northern Saskatchewan. Uraninite (UO₂ to U₃O₈) from this region commonly occurs as massive pitchblende or botryoidal aggregates within shear-hosted veins and altered host rock. Specimens often display a deep black coloration with submetallic to dull luster and substantial density indicative of high uranium content.
The Beaverlodge district played a foundational role in Canada’s uranium industry during the mid-20th century, and material from named deposits such as Ace carries strong locality provenance. For collectors of significant uranium localities, Canadian mining history, or high-grade primary uranium minerals, this is a representative and historically meaningful specimen.
