This specimen of actinolite comes from the well-known Dyno Road roadcut near Bancroft, Ontario, a region famous for its complex metamorphic geology and diverse mineral occurrences. The actinolite displays its characteristic dark green coloration and elongated crystal habit, typical of amphibole minerals formed under medium- to high-grade metamorphic conditions. Pieces from this roadcut are valued for their locality significance within Ontario’s classic mineral district.
Bancroft-area actinolite is a favourite among Canadian locality collectors and those interested in metamorphic mineral assemblages. This specimen makes an excellent representative example of amphibole-group mineralization from one of Canada’s most storied collecting regions.
