An exceptional cluster of well-formed Thorite crystals from the Kemp Prospect, one of Ontario’s most intriguing thorium-bearing localities. The intergrown crystals display deep reddish-brown coloration with subtle resinous to sub-metallic luster, indicative of high thorium content. Such crystalline definition is seldom seen from this occurrence, making this a particularly desirable specimen for collectors specializing in radioactive minerals or rare earth element associations.
The Kemp Prospect has produced only limited quantities of collectible Thorite crystals, most of which are highly weathered or fragmented. This cluster, however, retains strong geometric form and sharp crystal faces—a remarkable survival given the brittle nature of Thorite.
A well-balanced display piece that captures the rarity and geological interest of Ontario’s thorium minerals, this cluster ranks among the better examples recovered from the locality and stands as a superb representative of Canada’s pegmatitic Thorite occurrences.
