This rough Uraninite specimen (Pitchblende variety) originates from the world-famous Eldorado Mine at Port Radium, Great Bear Lake — one of the most historically significant uranium localities on Earth. The material exhibits dense, black metallic luster typical of massive Uraninite, with surfaces showing subtle botryoidal and granular textures formed in hydrothermal veins. Under detection, these specimens display high activity levels, reflecting their rich uranium content and remarkable preservation.

The Eldorado Mine played a foundational role in Canada’s early uranium and silver mining history, and material from this locality is now exceedingly scarce. This specimen captures that legacy — an authentic, untouched fragment of the ore that helped define the atomic age.
